BLACK WOMEN DESERVE CARE

And you can help.

Skylark is a film about the harms that Black women face at work and in life, the impact of these harms on their bodies and minds, and the pathways available for healing.

We can think of film as film
or film as medicine.
Skylark is medicine.

— Tina Cruz-Hubbard,

When Black women experience Skylark, they immediately relate to the film. Skylark is a retelling of their own story. They realize the physical and mental health impacts of weathering and want to do something about it.

But oftentimes, they don’t know where to begin or how to sustain their efforts in a society built on extracting from Black women.

Skylark’s impact campaign provides resources that inspire Black women’s collective healing journeys, which in turn will encourage dialogue and action that moves the broader culture from extraction to care.

WE HAVE AN
AMBITIOUS GOAL

To get Skylark and health and mental health resources to 10 million Black women who work in jobs in the nonprofit and private sectors, academia, and government, as well as Black women who are nurses, home healthcare, restaurant, and birth workers.

Regardless of where Black women work, the experience is the same. The solution is also the same—deep wells of care.

I am still deeply moved by what I saw and learned from the documentary. I woke up this morning intentionally implementing self-care practices and realigning myself with health, wellness, affirmations, and peace. Things that are truly our birthright, especially in the midst of the burdens and healing journeys African American women navigate every day. That is the impact this work had on me.
